OREANDA-NEWS. July 26, 2011. Estonian national carrier Estonian Air has been among the best in Europe for several years when it comes to punctuality and regularity, reported the press-centre of Estonian Air.

The punctuality and regularity of flights are key indicators in the assessment of airline operations and main factors in the assessment of the quality of an airline's service. This is also one of the most important aspects to choose between airlines for more than 2000 people who were giving feedback to develop Estonian Air’s products and services further under the unique crowd sourcing project “My Estonian Air”.

The average 15-minute punctuality of European airlines is 86%, which means that 86 flights out of 100 depart on time (i.e. within 15 minutes of the scheduled time).

Since the majority of airlines regularly publish their own punctuality figures, we are able to compare Estonian Air’s statistics with those of Europe's most outstanding airlines and the average in aviation. Rankings are also compiled by aviation unions in which companies are compared on the basis of their results.

SAS received the title of Europe's most on-time airline last summer with 91.3% punctuality. Estonian national carries has shown even higher punctuality during the spring and summer period despite of the fact that with a smaller fleet delays have a greater impact on punctuality statistics. For example, Estonian Air achieved punctuality of 97% in April, which has been even better than those of the best in Europe.

Estonian Air’s outstanding punctuality results have been recognised also outside Estonia. Estonian Air was recognized as the most punctual airline on the ceremony of Aviation Awards 2010, hosted by Brussels Airport serving 80 airlines from different regions around the world.
Last year Estonian Air was nominated as the most punctual airline in Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, which is serving more than 100 airlines from all over the world.
