OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2011. Freight One hauled about 3 million metric tons of coal from northern Kazakhstan to major combined heat and power (CHP) plants in the Ural region in the first half of 2011.

The company hauls coal from the Ekibastuz mines to the largest power plants of the Ural region including the Reftin, Nizhneturin, Krasnogorsk and Verkhnetagil plants, which supply power to industrial and residential areas of the Sverdlovsk, Tyumen, Perm and Chelyabinsk regions. There was a twofold increase in the haulage of Ekibastuz coal over last year.

The company increased the number of coal trains in operation in June from 23 to 30 for timely replenishment of fuel supplies and to prepare for the upcoming heating season. The necessary reserve of fuel, exceeding the norm by 50—200%, was created at the stations by the first of July.

Freight One has proposed implementing "hard" train paths on the Ural-Kazakhstan route in order to make the deliveries more efficient. The technology will significantly reduce the load on the infrastructure, free up a supplementary fleet of wagons and optimize shippers’ transport costs. Freight One is currently working with RZD to develop this technology on the Kuzbass routes from Yerunakovo to Luzhskaya and from Yerunakovo to Nakhodka-Vostochnaya.
