OREANDA-NEWS. July 27, 2011. Brazilian state-run oil company Petroleo Brasileiro (PBR, PETR4.BR), or Petrobras, will delay the use of floating liquefied natural gas terminals for presalt fields, although the decision will be reviewed in the future, the company’s director of gas and energy said Monday.

"A decision has already been made, [floating LNG terminals] will not be used now," Petrobras’s Maria das Gracas Foster said during a press conference to discuss the company’s USD 224.7 billion 2011-2015 investment plans.

While floating LNG terminals won’t be used in the first round of presalt development, Petrobras has approved technical designs for projects and will re-evaluate them in the future. Petrobras instead has opted for a natural gas pipeline for initial delivery of natural gas from the offshore fields, a more "traditional" route, Foster said.
