OREANDA-NEWS. August 02, 2011. Kazakhmys Group announced production results for the second quarter and first half of 2011, reported the press-centre of KASE.

Indicators of copper and by-product production in line with annual plans. Copper cathode production from own concentrate of 153 kt with planned annual target 300 kt. Ore output and copper in concentrate production recovered due to improved equipment availability following maintenance work.

Zinc in concentrate output of 76 k, silver and gold output increased 90% to 4.4 Moz and 36.6 koz accordingly. A significant rise in the production of silver and gold was possible as the precious metals refinery at Balkhash underwent repair work.

Power production in the first half increased 19% to 6,395 GWh due to the continued strong demand on markets of Kazakhstan and Russia. Net power generated at Ekibastuz GRES-1 in the first half of 2011 increased to 39 MWh compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
