OREANDA-NEWS. August 2, 2011. According to the Contract signed between the Kulevi Black Sea Terminal LLC and Georgian Railway LLC, the Terminal assumed a number of liabilities regarding development, construction and reconstruction works of Georgian railway. Reconstruction of 6 lines at Samtredia station, reconstruction of one more additional line at Agurkarkhana and Kvaloni stations have been already completed. One of the important projects agreed with Georgian Railway LLC is construction of the 35 kV substation at Kolkheti station. The substation will be put into operation in the nearest future. Within the scope of Chaladidi-Kolkheti-Kulevi construction and reconstruction project, the Terminal continues to carry out works with system of overhead contact wire. Installation of the 14.5 km length contact wire in Kolkheti and Partotskali stations is ongoing. At the same time, the Terminal is carrying out works for connection of Chaladidi and Partotskali stations in all-electric interlocking system. After completion of the project, transportation up to Partotskali station will be carried out by electric locomotive and that will reduce fuel expenses of diesel locomotive, speed up delivery of freight and increase the turnover.
