The Ukrainian Stock Exchange opened in positive territory on Thursday after U.S. markets moved into the green overnight, but moved steadily downward over the course of the day, with global sentiment pitching against equities. The UX closed off 2.69% at 2,207.44, its lowest mark since early December 2010. Total equity turnover was UAH 148.3 mln. The most actively traded names were Motor Sich (MSICH UK), down 2.59% on UAH 33.5 mln in volume; Centrenergo (CEEN UK), down 5.57% on UAH 22.3 mln; and Alchevsk Iron & Steel (ALMK UK), down 2.15% on UAH 19.6 mln. Among blue chips, the worst declines were seen by Centrenergo; Stirol (STIR UK), down 4.80%; and Azovstal (AZST UK), down 4.46%.
