OREANDA-NEWS. August 08, 2011. The Director of World Bank in Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova Martin Raiser visited branches of “NIBULON” in Mykolayiv region, reported the press-centre of NIBULON.

Director General of “NIBULON”, Hero of Ukraine Oleksiy Vadaturskyy personally met the honorary guest.  Together with the Deputy General Director for Trade Andriy Vadaturskyy and the Head of financial department Andriy Mykhaylyuk they visited the transshipment terminal of “NIBULON” in Mykolayiv, where Mr. Raiser saw over a unique laboratory of the company, got acquainted with the domestic logistics of the company and high level of labor organization. According to Mr. Raiser, he was impressed not only with a high technological level of most modern equipment and facilities at the terminal, but also with the professionalism and competence of specialists of the company.

Mr. Raiser was able to learn more about the progress of implementation of “NIBULON’s” investment program while visiting Mykolayiv shipbuilding yard “Okean” and the first transshipment terminal of the company at the Southern Bug River in Nova Odesa. While being at the shipyard, the guest inspected the newly-built “NIBULON-1” tug, which is currently being prepared to enter the sea trials and acceptance by the team, and three tugs, which are at various stages of construction in the yard’s dry dock.

Mr. Raiser also visited “Prybuzhanivska” branch for a comprehensive review of “NIBULON’s” work, there he was able to familiarize himself with the level of agriculture in the fields of the company.

Martin Raiser saw with his own eyes the construction site and equipment for the new terminal, which has long been stored outdoors under a tarpaulin because of the counteractions in the implementation of the project of “NIBULON”, while being in Voznesens’k district.

“Our company is a private and politically unbiased one, and therefore in the times of any power we feel certain constraints: each level of business has its own level of resistance from the part of power. In my opinion, this is an element of undeveloped economy and development of our society. But today we are grateful to the World Bank, the EBRD and the International Monetary Fund for the support you provide for the protection of private business in Ukraine”, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy said.

During the meeting, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy and Martin Raiser also spoke about the participation of “NIBULON” in the IBRD program “Export Development Project” in 1998.

“Certainly, this project was created to support export in Ukraine that 10 years ago was not well integrated into the international market,” says Martin Raiser. “Now the situation has changed: logistics was developed, international relations emerged - Ukraine participates in the global market. Apart from everything else we should owe the agricultural sector. Ukraine is primarily known all over the globe for its great potential and opportunities to feed the world, which is particularly important now. The President of the World Bank Robert Zoellick often said that today, given the rise in food prices, the situation in many countries is very complicated. Therefore, Ukraine can help not only countries in the world, but also itself at the expense of a profitable export. If the World Bank can help in this situation to increase the share of Ukraine in the international market, we are ready to participate in such projects.”

Oleksiy Vadaturskyy says, “Our collaboration with the World Bank has developed because we had a perfect credit history. Work with such a strong structure has become our company’s business card, after that the doors of the first-class banks in the world and the best companies opened to “NIBULON”. Today we are working with 15 foreign banks. When we participated in the first program of the IBRD “Export Development Project” under the guarantee of the government, our company received a certificate from the World Bank for the best project implemented in the former Soviet Union. We effectively used financial resources involved and actually performed the program “Export Development Project”, with which the World Bank came to Ukraine, and became the largest export-oriented company in the country due to the first credit line. We have no intention to deviate from the shaped plans, because our country has serious potential for increasing of export of grains and oilseeds in 2-3 times in order to feed the world.”

“Besides, now we end up forming of our own infrastructure, after that our company already has an invitation to build port facilities in the corn recipient countries. If this year we had not suspended this investment project, then the next year we might have built our branches in other countries. Here are the results that our first collaboration with the World Bank has today”, Oleksiy Vadaturskyy said.

Oleksiy Vadaturskyy at the end of the meeting thanked Martin Raiser for his personal visit to “NIBULON”, “Managers of your level do not often come to us, and for us it is a great pleasure.”

According to Mr. Raiser, visiting of the company with such a unique infrastructure as “NIBULON” gave him an opportunity to familiarize himself with a mechanism for exporting of agricultural products and the movement of grain from the fields to the port:

“NIBULON” is one of our oldest clients on the credit line through “Ukreximbank”. The things I have seen today are an example of the fact that agriculture sector has the future. This is important for Ukraine, so I hope that others will take into account your example. It is very pleasant for me personally, if the World Bank can provide you with a little help.”
