OREANDA-NEWS. August 10, 2011. Azerbaijan’s leading mobile operator Azercell Telekom disagrees with Baku Economic Court’s decision on Bakcell’s charge and  considers it unfair one.

The company reports that the decision implies conduction of inter-calculations on internetwork calls on AZN 2 qapiks per minute and not 5 qapiks as Azercell does. At that the decision of Communications and Information Technologies Ministry’s Board from April 2009 concerning reduction of internetwork connection to 2 qapiks is taken as basis for Bakcell’s charge .

" I still think that Bakcell’s charge is unreasonable and consider Bakcell’s press-release from 3 August 2011 as its own position. We consider the decision of Baku Economic Court to be unfair and beyond doubt intend to take appeal after reception of the court’s official decision. As it is known Baku Economic Court №1 is first instance court and in order for its decision coming into force it is necessary to be retained by other instance courts in terms determined by legislation. Azercell controls 55% of Azerbaijan mobile services market and its network covers 80% of the country territory and 99,8% of the population. By early 2011 the number of Azercell subscribers made 4.2 million clients. Only in 2010 the company invested USD 108,2 million in Azerbaijan’s telecommunication system development and in 15  years of operating at the local market-USD 884,8 million and is the largest investor of non-oil sector. Last year the operator paid USD 114,6 million to the state budget of Azerbaijan and in 14 years- USD 868,2 million",- the report says citing Head of Azercell Telekom’s Corporate Responsibility Department Ulviyya Hasanzadeh.
