OREANDA-NEWS. August 12, 2011. Renaissance Capital, the leading emerging markets investment bank, has appointed Ateev Chadda as Head of Coverage, India, Investment Banking and Financing.

Chadda, who will ultimately be based in Mumbai, is the Firm’s first investment banking appointment for India. He will focus on international capital raisings and listings for Indian companies, and cross-border M&A between India and the CIS and Africa; as well as assisting Indian companies seeking expansion into Africa and Russia.

“Ateev’s appointment represents a significant commitment to the business opportunity in India for Renaissance Capital and its clients,” said Hasnen Varawalla, Head of New Markets Investment Banking at Renaissance Capital. “Renaissance Capital has built a unique emerging markets platform that has already demonstrated its cross-border potential, and Ateev will play an important role in further integrating India into our business.”

Renaissance Capital has been active in India since 2010: the Firm advised Jubilant Energy on its London IPO and Essar Group on its acquisition of Zimbabwe’s Zisco.

Chadda joins Renaissance Capital from Religare and before that Macquarie Capital Advisors, where he was head of resources from 2007-2010, leading key transactions for Macquarie in the resources and utilities sectors in India. Prior to that, he was head of business development for Bharti Group. At Renaissance Capital, Chadda will report to Hasnen Varawalla.
