OREANDA-NEWS. August 17, 2011. In January-July 2011, the debt grew USD 161.14 million or 15.8 percent, according to the finance ministry’s data.

The country’s foreign state debt as of January 1, 2011, totaled USD 1,116.18 mln, by the end of July last year - USD 1,018.37 mln. The debt grew in January-July 2011 due to the USD 24.63 mln excess of foreign loan receipts in this period over the amount of foreign debt payments and due to the positive change in the US dollar’s exchange rate against other currencies in the amount of USD 38.71 mln.

In 2010, Moldova’s foreign state debt increased by USD 342.5 mln (44.3%), making up 18.9 percent of the country’s GDP.
