OREANDA-NEWS. August 18, 2011. The research award of Eesti Pank, 2,300 euros, was won by Doctoral candidate at the University of Tartu Indrek Saar for his research Optimal alcohol taxation: Simulation results for Estonia, reported the press-centre of Eesti Pank.

The research discusses the optimal level of alcohol taxation and assesses empirically the optimal alcohol taxation level in Estonia in 2009, taking into account both the external costs of alcohol and the fiscal impact of tax policy.

The research award will be presented to the winner at Eesti Pank's open seminar, where Indrek Saar also introduces his research. The seminar will be in Estonian and will take place at Eesti Pank on 18 August at 10.00.

The research award dedicated to the memory of Urmas Sepp will be issued for the ninth time. The aim of the research competition is to value the acquisition of a scientific degree, to stimulate scientific research in the field of economics, and to show recognition for an outstanding research.
