SITRONICS Information Technologies, one of the major system integrators and leading suppliers of products, solutions and services in the sphere of information technology in Eastern Europe and CIS countries, announces successful implementation of the IndoorTV system of the Digital Signage class for digital content management in the MTS Retail Chain. The key task of the project is to provide ample opportunities to run marketing advertising campaigns at the sales outlets of the MTS Retail Chain throughout Russia, reported the press-centre of SITRONICS IT.

To fulfill this task, SITRONICS IT project team jointly with the specialists of the WINGS Company has produced a unique solution based on the ViziCell system of Digital Signage class. The given solution allows to easily manage a large distributed network of endpoint terminal nodes with a possibility of updates, synchronization and digital contents, and also translation of digital contents on displays connected into a single broadcasting network through terminal nodes.

The launch of the IndoorTV system production at the MTS Retail Chain was preceded by the ViziCell adaptation stage and program modules enhancement, for the implementation of all requirements of MTS to a complex solution, covering both the basic core and program clients deployed on terminal nodes. Use of the virtualization technology at the implementation stage made it possible to proceed to the client systems installation before the completion of adaptation works and implement the key changeover from the middleware to the final software. Thus, operation of the system before the project commissioning allowed MTS to launch commercial advertising campaigns.

Server part of the solution has been implemented on the cluster node in the MTS data processing center, where all translated content and sales outlet terminal node management system are located. Materials are transferred to the client terminal platforms, located in the sale outlet, that perform translation of content to add-on devices, video panels and acoustic systems. After the content and instructions have been delivered, a campaign is launched with the correction as to the local time zone, in which a certain sales outlet is located. Translation performance reports are forwarded to the central server cluster and used during media planning.

The mechanism of ViziCell system content management tracks demonstration of every video on the video panel, gives a possibility to gather statistics in real time mode, and also assigns an individual media plan for each sales outlet or a group of sales outlets, assembled geographically or based on the other characteristics. Despite the fact that the connection between the server and client parts is made through a corporate data transmission network, the client part is entirely autonomous. Even if the connection with the central server fails, the solution will continue its operation in sales outlets to the fullest extent.

“Based on the solution of the WINGS Company we have managed to create a fault-tolerant system with the provision of high availability and a single center of client device distributed network management. This system is even capable of functioning in unstable communication channels within the access network of sales outlets,” Head of Complex Projects Department of SITRONICS Information Technologies Company, Dmitriy Gorbachev, comments. “The Indoor TV project for MTS Retail Chain that has been carried out on a tight schedule is the only Digital Signage class system implementation of such scale in Russia.”  

At present the Indoor TV network covers more than 900 sales outlets of the MTS Retail Chain. By the end of the year, more than 1700 retail outlets throughout Russia will have been equipped and added to the network. The project scope will be expanded in the long run, with the interactive television system to be used in 2600 communications stores. Further development of the system in the MTS Retail Chain will be the Indoor TV 2 project, within the framework of which innovation interactive systems for automation of a number of sales process functions will be deployed in the sales outlets. Development of the solution is aimed at provision of the entire sales process automation within the MTS Retail Chain.
