OREANDA-NEWS. August 19, 2011. Vladimir Putin, Russian Prime Minister, arrived in the Northern Capital on a working visit and visited the Yugo-Zapadnaya cogeneration plant that is constructed by Stroytransgaz under the general contract, reported the press-centre of Stroytransgaz.

During a visit Vladimir Putin took part in commissioning of the first phase of the cogeneration plant constructed by Stroytransgaz.

Mr. Sergey Makarov, Chairman of the Management Board of the company, said, “This project is one of the most important for us. We have constructed a unique cogeneration plant – you can call it “the smartest one” in Russia. Even when the facility owner was changing and there was a long lack of financing Stroytransgaz kept on working using its own financial resources. Thus, we have maintained the project when it was in crisis.”

The Yugo-Zapadnaya cogeneration plant is one of few new-build projects (not upgraded or reconstructed project) in the whole history of modern Russia. During its construction Stroytransgaz applied the up-to-date energy efficiency technologies. The hi-tech design with the application of energy efficiency generating equipment and optimal distribution of heat requirements between heat supply sources are being integrated into the facility. Besides, in order to take into account the requirements for St. Petersburg's environmental improvement the Yugo-Zapadnaya cogeneration plant is constructed with the application of eco-friendly thermal and power generation technologies.
