OREANDA-NEWS. August 19, 2011. BM&FBOVESPA obtained a record financial volume in its equity markets yesterday (August 17). In the BOVESPA segment (equities) the total was BRL 24,259,162,443.96. The previous record was BRL 18,437,046,217.92 on August 15, 2007.

There were also records in the BM&F segment. There were records for the Structured Ibovespa Rollover Transaction (IR1), of 2,222 transactions and 103,567 contracts traded. The previous records were 2,128 transactions and 86,415 contracts, on June 15, 2011 and April 12, 2011, respectively.

Exercise of Ibovespa options totals BRL 9.03 billion on BM&FBOVESPA, with 154,660 contracts traded.

The exercise of options on the BOVESPA Index (Ibovespa) totaled BRL 9.03 billion yesterday, with 154,660 contracts traded. Of the exercised options, BRL 7.89 billion was in put options and BRL 1.13 billion in call options.

The spot Ibovespa ended the session 1.38% higher at 55,073 points.

The contracts with the highest volumes were:

Series at 56,000 points totaled BRL 1.50 billion in put options;

Series at 57,000 points totaled BRL 1.10 billion in put options;

Series at 62,000 points totaled BRL 1.05 billion in put options;

Series at 60,000 points totaled BRL 938.40 million in put options;

Series at 54,000 points totaled BRL 858.60 million in call options.

Ibovespa Futures Expiration

In the BM&F segment yesterday was the last trading day for the Ibovespa Futures contract maturing in August 2011 (Q11). There were 33,426 contracts traded in this maturity, coming to a total financial volume of BRL 1.82 billion. The day’s settlement level was 54,596 points. There were 106,414 contracts traded in the three maturities of the Ibovespa Futures contract, and financial volume was BRL 5.8 billion.
