TCL Corporation released its 2011 half-year performance report and its multimedia business achieved sales revenue of RMB 11.027 billion with an increase of 2.65%, compared to the first half of 2010. In the first half year, the company gained net profit of RMB 123 million, which successfully turned around the company's business from loss into profit, reported the press-centre of TCL.

According to the report, TCL Multimedia improved its performance both in its Chinese and overseas markets in the first half year by selling out 2.527 million units of LCD TVs in the Chinese market and 4.033 million units in its overseas market, with 23.0% and 25.6% YOY increase respectively. The total sales volume of LCD TVs was 4.033 million units with 23.9% YOY increase, and the proportion of LED-backlit LCD TV products increased rapidly to 34.2% within the first half of the year.

Precise Positioning Strategy, Driven by Domestic and Overseas markets
The amazing business performance of TCL Multimedia was the result of its precise market positioning strategy. In response to the severe competition in domestic market, the company actively improved its product portfolio, streamlined product lines and integrated resources to create best-selling products and strengthen deploying 3D and smart TV products. Meanwhile, the company seized the opportunities in emerging minor cities and rural markets to build the marketing channels, and increased the coverage of rural network and the efficiency of individual stores by adding around 2990 sales outlets in the first half year alone.

In the emerging market, the sales volume of LCD TV products increased by 124.3% over the same period last year, and the company made sales breakthrough in major markets such as Brazil, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Improved R&D Capabilities and Leading Smart Technology
Focused on developing LED-backlit LCD TV, 3D TV, Internet TV and smart TV products, the company launched 13 new series including 31 products in Chinese market within the first half year. The Company is the first one to employ the industry-leading progressive scanning 3D technology in LED super smart TV, also the first to launch both Windows-based and Android-based smart TV products in Chinese market and to achieve automatic recognition and switch between these two operation systems. Coordinating with China Star Optoelectronics Technology and Integrating the Vertical Industrial Chain
China Star Optoelectronics Technology launched its 8.5-generation LCD panel project on Aug.8th and is expected to start the mass production from the fourth quarter this year. Industry analysts believed that with the rapid growth of LCD TV and mobile phone business and the increasing demand for upstream devices and raw material in LCD industry, it's strategically important for the company to adjust its industrial structure and improve its LCD product portfolio.

The company actively built the complete LCD industrial chain by cooperating with LG Chemical and Asahi Glass in polarizer, photo resistant and LCD glass substrate used in flat-panel display.
