OREANDA-NEWS. August 25, 2011.  Donbassaero and AeroSvit Airlines, having united their technological, operational and commercial resources, at present jointly develop the air-transport potential of Donetsk region.

The leading airline of the mine region was established in 1933 as Donetsk Aviation Enterprise. In 2007, as a result of reorganization, the company received Donbassaero Airlines Ltd. status. Only six years ago Donetsk air carrier started to replenish the fleet with modern Airbus 320 aircraft, and as of today it is Ukraine’s largest operator of the aircraft, produced by the European concern Airbus.

After the company will have received the next aircraft by the end of summer 2011, Donbassaero’s fleet will total nine Airbus 320s and one Airbus 321.

AeroSvit Airlines, established in 1994, as of today is the largest Ukrainian air carrier, with the most widespread route network and the largest fleet in Ukraine, comprising of 16 Boeing 737s and 8 Boeing 767-300ERs, intended for non-stop flights over long-haul distances.

In the beginning of 2007 the two airlines united their efforts, having created The Ukrainian Aviation Group Strategic Alliance. In autumn 2010, the third Ukrainian carrier, Dniproavia, joined them.

In the Alliance’s framework Donbassaero and AeroSvit provide direct international flights from Donetsk to Tel Aviv, Athens, Baku, Dubai, Larnaka, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Istanbul and Tbilisi, and charter flights to resorts in Turkey, Egypt, Montenegro, Greece and other countries. In addition, due to the high frequency of scheduled flights of the partner companies between Donetsk and Kyiv (five per day), Donetsk region is integrated into a wide network of international flights of Alliance’s members, from Ukraine’s capital to destinations in 33 countries of the world.

The general contact center of the partner carriers operates 24 hours a day. In the contact center the most complete information concerning the services of the airlines can be received. Upon the client’s request the optimum offer will be formed, flights will be booked and the tickets will be issued.

For encouragement of passengers who travel frequently, the Meridian programme was created. It allows customers to accumulate bonus miles for scheduled flights on the aircraft of all three air carriers — Donbassaero, AeroSvit and Dniproavia — and also for the use of related services of about 40 companies, partners of the Meridian programme (banks, hotels, mobile operators, car rental and sales companies etc.). A total of 125,000 passengers — Meridian programme’s participants — have the chance to use the accumulated miles to issue bonus tickets or to increases the class of service on scheduled flights of any of the three airlines of the Alliance.
