OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2011. The situation in the foreign exchange market of Belarus will be stabilized within the next two months, and next week the authorities will finalize a plan of actions to deal with issues in the financial and credit sector, said President Alexander Lukashenko during a meeting on the nation's urgent socio-economic issues.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss with members of the Government, the National Bank, and other concerned institutions the problems in the national economy as of the end of H1 2011.

"Today at this meeting we are going to discuss these issues and decide what we are going to do next. We cannot drag it any longer. By Tuesday or Wednesday all our decisions will be compiled into a finalized documents and brought to the President, and I will personally announce to the nation how the Government and the National Bank will be acting in this situation," said the Head of State. People will be appointed to implement the document and people to oversee its implementation.

"We have one and a half to two months to stabilize the situation in the foreign exchange market. Completely!" said Alexander Lukashenko. "To make sure the population actually feels that the course that has been charted will remain unchanged, and the situation will develop in the direction indicated by the President."

This meting should help develop final course of actions for the near term and influence the further strategy. "There is no catastrophe, the situation is under control but requires that certain decision be taken," he said.
