OREANDA-NEWS. August 29, 2011. A ceremony was held last week in Singapore marking the launching of OGX’s first FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage & Offloading Unit). OGX is the EBX Group oil and gas company responsible for the largest private-sector exploratory campaign underway in Brazil. The OSX-1, which was customized in the Keppel shipyard, will leave Singapore for Brazil this week, on the 17th, and will go to the Campos Basin, where it will support OGX’s first oil production.

The unit was chartered from OSX, the EBX Group company focused in the supply of equipment and services to the offshore oil and gas industry, and will be used in OGX’s Extended Well Test in the Waimea accumulation. The OSX-1 has a storage capacity of 900 thousand barrels and a production capacity of up to 80 thousand barrels/day. The unit has 16 modules, of which 8 were customized to meet OGX specifications. Production of up to 20 thousand barrels per day is expected for this year.

The vessel was acquired by OSX in December 2009 and has undergone a complete customization, at a total cost of USD 610 million (purchase + customization).
