OREANDA-NEWS. August 30, 2011. JSC IRKUT Corporation and ThyssenKrupp System Engineering, Germany, at the International Aviation and Space Salon - MAKS-2011 signed the contract on supply of a complete set of production line ensuring the assembly of panels and section F5 of MC-21 aircraft with modern digital technologies application.

As per the contract ThyssenKrupp System Engineering will develop, produce and mount a complex of technological systems including positioning and laser measurement systems as well as equipment for automatic riveting panels at the Aviastar-SP aviation plant (Ulyanovsk).

The contract provides the liability of ThyssenKrupp System Engineering for commissioning of assembly line, training of JSC Aviastar-SP’s personnel to operate new equipment, as well as consulting services.

The contract provides for the wide range of Russian companies to be involved in tooling manufacturing for the assembly line.

MC-21 program envisages the creation of short/mid range airliner family with wide range of operational capabilities focused on Russian and international markets of civil aircraft.

The prime contractor of the program – JSC IRKUT Corporation. Creation of the family of aircraft is provided by the current federal target program "Development of civil aviation of Russia".

MC-21 technical performance will exceed the currently operated aircraft. Implementation of modern technologies will provide 12-15% operational costs reduction, the increase of comfort level as well as high level of flight safety.

Development of MC-21 aircraft is carried out in accordance with the schedule. The maiden flight of the MC-21 is scheduled for 2014. Certification of the basic version of MC-21 according to Russian and international standards is to be completed in 2016.
