OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2011. On 10 January, 2003 Ukraine officially became the fifty second country to join the Special Data Dissemination Standard (SDDS) of the International Monetary Fund. It was an event  of great importance for the development of statistics. Ukraine advanced towards adjusting its official statistics to the international standards, reported the press-centre of NBU.

In March, 1996 the Special Data Dissemination Standard was approved by the International Monetary Fund in order to disclose economic and financial  indicators of the member countries of the IMF. Furnishing of statistical data of the country in compliance with the requirements of the IMF Standard is aimed at the improvement of  macroeconomic policy and financial market performance. The Special Data Dissemination Standard determines data parameters (coverage, periodicity, opportuneness), parameters of accessibility,  adequacy and quality.

Joining the Special Data Dissemination Standard is voluntary. After joining the Special Data Dissemination Standard of the International Monetary Fund the country has to observe the methods of data dissemination, established by the IMF.

Upon Ukraine's joining the Special Data Dissemination Standard of the IMF statistical information on sectors of the economy of Ukraine is available on the websites of the IMF, the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the Ministry of Finance and the National Bank of Ukraine.

The State Statistics Committee of  Ukraine is set to be the coordinator of the Special Data Dissemination Standard of the International Monetary Fund in Ukraine.

The National Bank of Ukraine compiles indicators related to the development of financial and external sectors of the economy.

The State Statistics Committee of Ukraine is responsible for indicators related to the real sector of the economy and demography.

The Ministry of Finance of Ukraine compiles and disseminates indicators for the fiscal sector of the economy.
