OREANDA-NEWS. September 08, 2011. Qiu Bohua, Chinese Ambassador to Papua New Guinea (PNG), and his delegation members conducted an inspection visit to the jobsite of MCC Ramu NiCo Limited (MCC Ramu).

Accompanied by Gu Yuxiang and the other leaders of MCC Ramu, Ambassador Qiu visited the mine, the smelting plant and the resettlement area for the local people, and exchanged views with the landlord in the project area.

The Ambassador was debriefed on the project implementation progress by Technical Officer Wang Chun and Assistant General Manager Wang Baowen of MCC Ramu, and then saw the video on the project execution. Qiu was deeply impressed by the bravery and perseverance of all the project staff in conquering the various difficulties during the project execution. He felt extremely proud that the Chinese people could establish such a comprehensive advanced enterprise under such a tough and complicated circumstance.

The Ambassador met with the representatives of the employees and delivered speeches at both sites. He gave full recognition to the achievements made by the people, and extended the best wishes to the employees. He emphasized that, MCC Ramu attracted keen attention from the leaders of both PNG and China, and the successful fulfillment of this works would bring about outstanding benefits to all the people of both countries, which would make new attribution to the consolidation of friendship between PNG and China. Seeing the project facilities built up on a quality basis, all the people felt very delighted and proud for the extraordinary performance of the constructors. Qiu expected the people of MCC Ramu to make determined and persistent efforts for the early commissioning of this works.

He placed a high premium on MCC Ramu’s endeavors for community development and environment protection adhering to its concept of “One Ramu Nico, One Community”. The Ambassador also encouraged MCC Ramu to summarize the successful experience and the best practice and set up a perfect example for Chinese enterprises in terms of global presence strategy implementation.

Shortly after arriving at Madang, Qiu Bohua met with Mr. James Gau, Governor of Madang Province & Councilor of Raicoast Region. Gu Yuxiang, Party Secretary & Executive Vice General Manager, and Gao Yongxue, General Manager & Vice Party Secretary of MCC Ramu, were present at the meeting.

The Ambassador said, as the largest investment project of China in Pacific Region, Ramu Nico was attached with great importance by Chinese Government. Now the construction works was almost finished, he wished that the project could be put into commissioning as soon as possible. Qiu Bohua extended gratitude to Madang Provincial Government for the support had been and to be offered to the project implementation. Mr. James Gau gave a warm welcome to Qiu and his delegation members. According to the Governor, Ramu Nico was the largest investment project of Madang Provincial Government at present, holding a key position in the social and economic development in the local area.

The successful execution of this project would not only generate benefits to the landlords, the Provincial Government and the whole nation, but also play a demonstrative role in greatly enhancing the confidence of the foreign investors. In this view, Madang Provincial Government would spare no efforts, as always, in offering support to the project. On behalf of MCC Ramu, Gu Yuxiang expressed gratitude to the great support from both the Chinese Embassy and Madang Provincial Government.

Gu said, along with the project implementation, MCC also laid emphasis on the social/economic growth and environment protection in the project community and Madang Province, and a lot of efficient work had been undertaken. As a matter of fact, the development of Ramu Project had brought about a great deal of changes in this regard, and more benefits would be generated after the project commissioning. He mentioned that, the Project Team of Ramu was determined to promote the project execution and enable it to be put into operation as soon as possible.

Accompanied by Governor James Gau of Madang Province, the delegation conducted an inspection visit to the jobsite of the smelting plant. After the visit, Qiu and his delegation members flied back to Port Moresby.
