OREANDA-NEWS. September 12, 2011. Today, offering of a new Commodities Sub-fund of Ukio bankas Investment Opportunities Fund is launched. The funds of the Commodities Sub-fund will be invested in a commodities basket composed of oil, gold, food raw materials and industrial metals, reported the press-centre of Ukio bankas.

‘Taking into account our clients’ needs we present the Commodities Sub-fund of Ukio bankas Investment Opportunities Fund which will expand the choice of investment areas by supplementing the list of the Chinese, Russian, U.S., European and Money Market Instruments sub-funds offered by us. The new sub-fund will allow Ukio bankas clients to more widely distribute their investments by directing them not only to shares or bonds but also to the commodities markets,’ Julius Ivaska, director of UAB Ukio banko investciju valdymas, said.

In the recent decade investors saw growing prices of commodities which resulted from an increasing demand for raw materials in China, India and other developing countries as well as a limited supply of raw materials (particularly energy resources) and therefore the prices of commodities are likely to rise in the long-term period. Owing to a low correlation with shares and bonds investments in commodities may also be successfully used in diversifying the risk of an investment portfolio and protecting investments against inflation.

In the words of Mr Ivaska, those wishing to invest in Ukio bankas funds and sub-funds do not need to have large amounts – the minimum investment amount reaches a mere LTL 100 or EUR 50. Presently UAB Ukio banko investiciju valdymas also manages Ukio bankas Bonds, Ukio bankas Rational Investment Funds and the Chinese, Russian, European, U.S. and Money Market Instrument sub-funds of Ukio bankas Investment Opportunities Fund. Offering of Ukio bankas investment funds is carried out via AB Ukio bankas client service network and Ukio bankas internet banking system Eta bankas.
