OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2011. In the near future, after the holding of Euro-2012, Kyiv should take 2,5 million tourists a year.  This was stated by the Head of KCSA Alexander Popov during a visit to St. Andrew's descent of the capital.

"If today's Kiev takes one million tourists, over time we should have 2,5 million. Thus, it will be the development of our business, primarily for small and large for the city's economy," Alexander Popov told.

In his opinion, this tourist flow should replace with itself fans of football that will arrive for Euro-2012 and for which hotel complexes and rest infrastructures make dispositions.

Alexander Popov also noted that the final decision on the project "Old Town" which includes reconstruction of Kontraktova square and Sagaidachnogo street be passed before year's end.  "The decision we take, maybe even in October and November to the end of the year to have a complete picture of the reconstruction of the Old City," he has updated.

In parallel with the reconstruction of the Old City, he said, will be the construction of tourist - walking route with a bicycle track - which involves the Podol district and the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

"By the end of 2011 we will be specified conceptually with whole project. This large-scale plan is aimed at using capabilities of Kyiv, its cultural, historical, architectural heritage in order to attract as much as possible tourists in our city," Alexander Popov emphasized.
