OREANDA-NEWS. September 13, 2011. A seminar on Evaluating the Efficiency of Implementation of the Program of Aggression Replacement Training (ART) was held in Petrozavodsk within the scope of the international progect Children and Youth at Risk in the Barents Region.

The Aggression Replacement Training program is focused on prevention, reduction and replacement of minors' violent behavior. Its main purpose is decreasing the level of children's aggression through teaching adaptive behaviour skills.

Roman Koposov, project manager and representative of the Regional Office for Children, Youth and Family Affairs, Northern Norway, Knut Gundersen, teacher of the University college of Rogaland county, Vadim Kolesnikov, Associate Professor of the faculty of psychology of Karelian State Pedagogical Academy, representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Karelia, experts of institutions of education and social service working within the ART program have taken part in the seminar.

Research project of studying the efficiency of the ART method in Karelia will be launched in October. Results of the research will reveal efficiency of introduction of this program in institutions of the republic and influence of participation in the program on formation and development of minors' social skills, reduction in children's impulsiveness, aggression and anger.

The Aggression Replacement Training program is implemented in Petrozavodsk and regions of Kondopoga, Louhi and Olonetrs.
