OREANDA-NEWS. September 14, 2011. As part of “Competition Day in Russia” in Rostov-on-Don, Deputy Head of FAS Russia Anatoly Golomolzin held a bilateral meeting with Theodor Tanner, the Head of Austrian Federal Competition Authority, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.

Top officials discussed efficiency of bilateral cooperation between competition authorities of their two countries based on the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of competition policy signed between the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS Russia) and Austrian Federal Competition Authority on 19th May 2011 in Moscow in course of the official visit of a delegation of the Republic of Austria led by President Heinz Fischer to Russia.

An impressive example of practical implementation of the Agreement would be regular consultations on the most pressing issues of enforcement in Russia and Austria.

In course of the meeting two top officials also discussed the prospects of developing bilateral cooperation in terms of exchanging informational materials as well organising workshops for officers of the competition authorities of both countries in order to exchange experiences on the issues of competition policy and enforcement.

The parties discussed the areas of activities of a joint working group for pricing on the market of oil and oil products, and set the date and location for the first meeting (the 35th Session of the Interstate Council for Antimonopoly Policy on 11-12 October 2011 in Almaty, Kazakhstan) and the rage of issues to be discussed.

Anatoly Golomolzin thanked Theodor Tanner speaking at the plenary session of the “Competition Day”, when he had given a positive assessment of FAS efforts towards improvement of the antimonopoly law and enforcement and for providing information about relevant experience of Austrian Federal Competition Authority at the workshop on “Ensuring competitive conditions on the pharmaceutical market”.

“Mr. Tanner’s participation in such important event for Russian competition authority once again confirms that our bodies aim at exchanging the best practices in order to develop competition in the Russian Federation and the Republic of Austria”, stated Anatoly Golomolzin.
