The Release of 2011 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises i.e. Summit of Large Chinese Enterprises hosted by China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association (CEC/CEDA) jointly was held in Chengdu, Sichuan. In the conference the lists of 2011 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, Top 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing Industry and Top 500 Enterprises in Service Industry were released. With an operating income of RMB 272.984 billion, Baosteel ranked 20th among Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, 3 places up from last year. Meanwhile, Baosteel ranked 5th among Top 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing Industry, 1 place up from last year. Chairman Xu Lejiang of Baosteel Group Corporation attended the release conference, reported the press-centre of Baosteel.

The Release of 2011 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises i.e. Summit of Large Chinese Enterprises is one of the brand forums of the largest scale and most influence in domestic circles of industry and commerce. Starting from 2002, China Enterprise Confederation and China Enterprise Directors Association (CEC/CEDA) released the list of Top 500 Chinese Enterprises every year. From 2005, the lists of Top 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing Industry and Top 500 Enterprises in Service Industry were added.

All the three lists have become a wind vane that reflects the development status of Chinese enterprises. With the theme of "Breakthrough and guidance: new journey for the development of large enterprises", the summit also held theme forum, high-level seminar of enterprise directors, etc. in addition to the release of the lists such as Top 500 Chinese Enterprises. In the conference, nearly 1000 peoples including the representatives of famous Chinese enterprise directors, some senior executives of trans-national companies, specialists and scholars and governmental officials carried out discussion and projection on many topics.

2010 is the concluding year of Chinese "11th 5-year" planning. In the context of the complicated and changeful economic environment at home and abroad, China consolidated and expanded the achievements made in the battle against the international financial crisis, and the large enterprises made remarkable progress in their operations. The threshold of 2011 Top 500 Chinese Enterprise is heightened, the indices such as operating income, total assets, owners' equity, and profit all registered considerable increases compared with last year. Each index of Top 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing Industry is increasing faster then those of Top 500 Chinese Enterprises, fully reflecting the rapid development of domestic manufacturing enterprises.

Last year, despite the increasingly intensified competition in the marketplace and the soaring prices of raw material and fuel, the staff of Baosteel made a concerted effort to enhance the technological progress and management innovation level and achieved the best operating performance in domestic steel industry, fully demonstrating Baosteel's strong core competitiveness in the market and making active contribution to maintaining the stable and rapid development national economy.

It is learnt that the first 10 places of 2011 Top 500 Chinese Enterprises are Sinopec, CNPC, State Grid, ICBC, China Mobile, CRECG, CRCC, China Construction Bank, China Life and Agriculture Bank of China in order; the first 5 places of 2011 Top 500 Enterprises in Manufacturing Industry, besides Baosteel, also include Sinopec, DFM, SAIC and FAW, the steel enterprises entering the first 10 places of this list also include Hebei Steel at 9th.
