OREANDA-NEWS. September 15, 2011. Azerbaijan’s industrial production fell in August 2011 by 18.2% against July’s indicator.

The State Statistics Committee informs that for Jan-August of the year country’s industrial production reached AZN 20.861 bn (USD 26.407 bn on average exchange rate of AZN 0.79 to the US dollar) that is by 2.6% less than the Jan-August 2010 index.

This year industrial production totaled AZN 2.843 bn in August versus AZN 2.405 bn in July, AZN 3.19 bn in June, AZN 2.635 bn in May, AZN 2.2bn in April and AZN 2.6 in March.

Last year’s industrial production reached AZN 27.4 bn (+2.6%), including AZN 2.179 bn in December and AZN 2.76 bn in November (the 2010 best index per month).

Over Jan-August 2011 industrial production in the state sector made up AZN 4.137 bn with year-on-year rise of 11.1% and AZN 16.723 bn with decrease of 6% in non-state sector.

The share of state sector was only 19.8% of overall industrial manufacture and the share of non-state sector 80.2%.

For Jan-August 2011 production in extracting industry reached AZN 15.9 bn or 76.3% of entire industrial output, processing industry AZN 3.805 bn or 18.2%, energy and gas sector AZN 1.025 bn or 4.9% and the rest volume, which totaled AZN 124.2 million or 0.6%, fell on the share of water supply, sewage treatment and utilization of hard waste. Production in extracting industry fell by 5.5%, increase in processing industry by 9.8%, in electric power and gas sectors by 8.4%, and by 10.7% in water supply and waste utilization.

This August, as well as following 2010, the trend when industrial output rise lagged from general growth of GDP continued. For Jan-August 2011 GDP grew by 1.1% against decrease of 2.6% in industrial sector.
