OREANDA-NEWS. September 16, 2011. It was said by the IKEA trading and operations manager Kent-Ake Ahlgren at the meeting in Stockholm with Moldova’s Prime Minister Vlad Filat. The parties discussed the Moldovan investment market, the trade opportunities offered by Moldova, as well as IKEA's role in the country. Kent-Ake Ahlgren said that the IKEA company is interested in the Moldovan market, noting that he is aware of Moldova's strategic geographical position.

He said he is confident that IKEA’s goods would be appreciated not only by Moldovans, but also by the neighbouring countries. The IKEA head said that the company intends to launch metal items, textile goods and carpets in Moldova. Filat presented the Moldovan market, reviewing its main benefits. The prime minister said Moldova needs investments and quality goods, IKEA serving as a good example in this respect.

Filat gave assurances that the Moldovan government would provide every support for the launch of new projects in Moldova and invited the leadership of the IKEA company to pay a visit to Moldova to learn with its potential. Kent-Ake Ahlgren said an IKEA delegation would visit the country as early as in November 2011. The IKEA brand was registered in Sweden in 1943. Presently, the company has over 280 stores in 37 states worldwide. In Eastern Europe, IKEA opened shops in Romania in 2000 and in Russia in 2007. The founder of the IKEA company, Ingvar Kamprad, is 84 years old and ranks eleventh among the world's richest people.
