OREANDA-NEWS. September 19, 2011. TISCO Stainless Steel Tube Company successfully overcame a worldwide technical problems, developed the first global W steel produced by extrusion machine. The product is mainly used for pipe supports of nuclear power fission reactor and the success of the development fills in the blank of the world, reported the press-centre of TISCO.

Since this year, in order to improve market share and application scope of stainless steel tube, the Company has implemented product structure adjustment strategy to meet the requirements of market and customer. By full playing the role of integrated platform of production and marketing and research, actively capturing market demand information, aiming at the nuclear power, aviation, advanced manufacturing and other industries, the Company has developed new products used for nuclear power such as PF/TF conductor casing, U steel, L shaped steel, square tube and W steel, which achieving good social benefits and making a positive contribution to TISCO transformation of high precision products.

As supports used steel for AP1000 the third generation nuclear power station steam turbine power waste heat system, W steel is always made by hot rolling plus welding process, on the one hand, the cost of hot rolling is much higher, on the other hand the welding of thick wall material is also much more difficult, and the risk is far greater than the seamless part. In order to provide better and more useful section steel to nuclear plant construction, by designing and developing the work mould and production process independently in more than half a year, the Company has taken the advantage of 60 MN extrusion machine, optimized heating technology and extrusion process, make a breakthrough development in the design of the mould. With characteristics like large outside diameter, thin wall thickness and big extrusion rate, the steel can further meet the requirement of the construction of nuclear power plants than normal W steel.

The success of extruded W steel, has laid the foundations for the company leaping into the field of nuclear power engineering high-end used steel, and the company may become the first domestic qualified supplier of nuclear power engineering high-end extruded W steel.
