OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2011. Ukraine has informed ambassadors of European countries on its position: the supply of gas to the EU will be implemented in full. This was started during Great Policy TV-program by Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Yuriy Boyko.

"Energy security today is extremely important for Europe and we are key players because we are transiting 80% of Russian gas. Therefore, we invite ambassadors and explain to them our position. The key at this meeting was that we stressed - despite all the contradictions and negotiations with Russian partners, we'll transit gas to Europe in contracted volume as long as we sign new contract" - Yuriy Boyko said.

The Minister also noted that Europe needs to clarify itself – what southern gas pipeline it is going to support.

"Nabucco pipeline and South Stream both come to a point in Europe. And comes one day - we have talked about it openly - when Europe has to decide which one it supports. The European Commission supports the Nabucco pipeline; several European Union countries signed an agreement on the "South Stream". This lack of a clear position, in my opinion, is the main problem of Europe on a real diversification of energy sources", - Yuriy Boyko said.
