OREANDA-NEWS. September 20, 2011. Today, the Ministry of Communications & Information Technologies of Azerbaijan has conducted presentation of e-government in Austria.

Azerbaijani deputy communication minister Elmir Velizadeh informs that today minister Ali Abbasov met with the head of the Austrian delegation.

"This meeting laid the foundation for mutual cooperation between Azerbaijan and Austria in the field of ICT. Our future plans are wide enough and envisage introduction of the most advanced technologies with use of Austria’s rich experience in this area," he stressed.

Then presentation was made by executive secretary general on e-state of the Federal Chancellor of Austria.

"Today, Internet users make up 80% of the population in Austria. The e-state system encompasses all municipalities and regions of the country. The system itself is built on a platform of company Digital Austria, which allows the use of e-signature via mobile phones and smartphones," he said.

According to Christian Rup, when introducing of e-state one should pay more attention to the identification of the electronic digital signature (EDS) with its owner.

"Our country has passed a law on the e-state, which will ensure the transparency of institutions and security of personal information," he said.

Velizadeh, in turn, pointed out that Azerbaijan is the first country in the region that has announced the transition to information society and promotes this strategy purposefully.

"Azerbaijan is drafting a bill on e-state. The idea of its development was taken from Austria, experience of which we use in preparing the bill," he emphasized.
