OREANDA-NEWS. September 21, 2011. Belarus’ inflation was at 8.9% in August 2011, after 3.5% in July and 8.6% in June, the National Statistics Committee said in a release.

The consumer price index soared 53.6% in January-August 2011, up from 5.1% in the first eight months of 2010.

Staple food prices went up 9.7% on the month in August and 55.3% in January-August; non-food prices increased 10.8% and 68.6%, and service prices went up 3.5% and 27.4%.

Belarus’ inflation grew 9.9% in 2010 (10.1% in 2009). The forecast for 2011 stands at 7.5%-8.5%.
