OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2011. Group of machinery operators of polymerization (10 persons and an interpreter) returned to Omsk. In the course of one month they were receiving training in Houston in training center of company LyondellBasell at polypropylene production plant (Texas, the USA), reported the press-centre of Titan.

The training lasted one month. Each course of lections dedicated to this or that area of polymerization unit would finish with practical mastering of studied material. A unique simulator of the unit containing a prototype of real control console of equipment allowed to consolidate the studied material. The simulator modeled various situations, which can occur during the functioning of polymerization equipment. The machinery operator monitored changes in the “unit” and reacted according to the situation, regulating temperature, pressure and other parameters, in order to stabilize the process. Finally the results of the specialists’ decisions were evident, and the “unit”, while reacting to the commands, changed its “behaviour” in the way it would be in a real situation. 

Besides this, the theoretical material was supplemented with demonstration of equipment working on a local plant, and specialists with long service shared their experience with “Polyom” employees, thoroughly speaking about peculiarities and difficulties which they happened to come across on the real plant. 

The trainers of the center positively evaluated practice of the plant’s machinery operators – professionalisms of the workers led to correct actions and decisions. After the training the machinery operators were given appropriate certificates.

Now Omsk residents are ready to apply the received knowledge in practice. Laboratory assistants (4 specialists and 1 interpreter) will be the next to study overseas. The training will take place in Ferrara (Italy).

According to the program, specialists of “Polyom” will make themselves  abreast of professional details of selection and analysis of the production samples.  

In addition one is engaged in continuous internal training and extension courses organized on the plant.
