OREANDA-NEWS. September 22, 2011. The fifth session of the Supervising committee of the European Union project "Joint Support Office of Ukraine's integration into the European Research Area" was held on September 19, 2011, chaired by the First deputy Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sports Evgen Sulima with participation of project experts and representatives of the Ministry.

During the meeting, Evgen Sulima spoke on condition and prospects of scientific and technological cooperation between Ukraine and the European Union.

As the First deputy minister noted, process of formation of national contact items of VII frame program of the European Union on researches and technological progress that would assist activation of participation of scientists in projects of programs of EU had been completed.

According to Evgen Sulima 12 national contact items on the basis of higher educational institutions, which are subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports, were created.

Validity of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Community on scientific and technological cooperation expired on November 8, 2009. Now Ukraine and EU have signed diplomatic notes. And the Agreement has to be validated by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with objective of coming into force. The Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports prepared the bill which in August was directed to the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for concept to the President of Ukraine.

Evgen Sulima noted that constantly there was an expansion of scientific cooperation with the EU countries with which the international agreements on cooperation were signed. It makes active high schools and scientific institutes on participation in VII frame program of the European Union on researches and technological progress.

The First deputy Minister said that considering euro integration aspirations of Ukraine, the European Commission was ready to qualitative expansion of interoperability with our state in scientifically-technological area.
