OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2011. Corporate Social Responsibility Development Center presented the results of the first Index of companies’ transparency and accountability in Ukraine. Index is founded within the framework of The Ukraine National Initiatives to Enhance Reforms Project (UNITER) which is performed by Pact and financed by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID).

In accordance with the results of researches conducted by the Center, Ukrainian companies are not open enough toward society – the detailed information on their activity is accessible for internal use only in 59.8 % of companies. Exactly with the aim of stimulating companies to the higher level of disclosure of information Corporate Social Responsibility Development Center started to arrange the Index on the basis of methodology by Beyond Business organization (Israel).

Maryna Saprykina, chairman of Corporate Social Responsibility Development Center, says: "Ukrainian companies from different sectors entered the Index, for this reason we have the opportunity to assess the general situation of CSR and its presentation in Ukraine. I hope next year indexes of Ukrainian companies’ transparency will be better".

In accordance with the results, DTEK (160 points out of 200 possible; 80% transparency) with the points it got entered top 10 most transparent companies of the world as evaluated by the Center, and it has the highest Transparency and accountability index in Ukraine. Such companies entered top ten of Ukrainian Index:
- DTEK (160 points; 80 % transparency);
- Metinvest (146; 73 %);
- Obolon (140; 70 %);
- ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (122; 61 %);
- System Capital Management (119; 59.5 %);
- Kyivstar (117; 58.5%), Interpipe (106; 53 %);
- Ernst&Young Ukraine (105; 52.5 %);
- METRO Cach & Carry Ukraine (104; 52 %);
- Galnaftogaz (103; 51.5 %).

All companies from top ten have non-financial reports, detailed description of implementation of social and ecological projects and comfortable sites’ navigation.
