OREANDA-NEWS. September 23, 2011. The new generation metropolitan train set of 81-780/781 series, produced at the factory in 2011, as well as the project for high-speed low floor tramway production, which is planned to be organized in cooperation with the French company, Alstom Transport, were presented at Oktyabrsky Electric Railway Car Repair Plant (OEVRZ, Saint – Petersburg, a part of CJSC Transmashholding). The presentation was held in the framework of the 185th anniversary of the enterprise.

Andrey Andreev, General Director of CJSC Transmashholding, Bernard Gonnet, Managing Director of Alstom Transport in Russia and CIS countries, Vladimir Garyugin, Head of Saint Petersburg metro, took part in the ceremony.

The metro cars of 81-780/781 series are the state-of-the-art development of the Russian designers, developed with due consideration of the Saint-Petersburg metro technical features and meet modern requirements, specified in relation to safety, energy efficiency, noise level and passenger comfort. A modern design of exterior and interior was developed for the new cars. They are equipped with air conditioning, heating and air purification systems. Passenger compartments are equipped with modern passenger information systems and special places for baby carriages and invalid carriages. The driver’s cab is completely redeveloped in comparison with the metro cars of the previous generations. It provides more comfortable working conditions for a driver. The metro train set, shown at the presentation, will be handed over to the Saint-Petersburg metro for test run.

 Metro cars production is the newest area of work for the Saint-Petersburg enterprise. The main job profile of the plant is the overhaul repair of locomotive hauled passenger cars and EMU train cars. Since 2008 OEVRZ have been executing overhauls for the rolling stock of the Moscow metro, and in 2010 it mastered industrial production of the new cars, it developed a train by the order of the Novosibirsk metro.

An additional point is that the plant presented the project for organization of modern tramways production at OEVRZ. It’s main feature is a high flexibility in creation of exterior and interior design as well as complexity of proposed transport product.
