OREANDA-NEWS. September 27, 2011. The Turkmenistan-Romania political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The Romanian delegation was led by Bogdan Aurescu, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, State Secretary for European Affairs.

A substantial exchange of views on the ways to intensify collaboration between Turkmenistan and Romania in the sphere of interstate relations, the trade and economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres took place during the meeting. The members of the delegations of the foreign ministries of the two friendly countries focused on dynamic development of Turkmen-Rumanian contacts and partnerships within the major international structures, including particularly the UN, OSCE and European Union, underscoring the coincidence of views on many critical issues of international politics in this context

It was emphasized that a qualitatively new impetus to strengthen and expand multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and Romania had been given during the official visit of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to Romani and the top level talks with President Traian Basescu, which had resulted in reaching the agreements and signing the package of documents aimed at intensifying bilateral collaboration. In this context the participants of the Turkmenistan-Romania political consultations discussed the ways to implement bilateral agreements and step up fruitful contacts in all spheres.

Upon concluding the meeting, the participants put emphasis on the mutual firm intention to bring the interstate dialogue to a qualitatively new level by building it on a long-term mutually beneficial basis.

During the visit Mr. Bogdan Aurescu delivered a lecture at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
