Chang’an Ford has been gradually perfecting the five systems during the past 10 years since its establishment. The establishment of the new transmission plant is a symbol that Chang’an Ford Mazda has formed the five major systems of automobile industry, which will further secure and promote its position in China’s automobile industry.

According to Mr. Huang, the target of Chongqing is to build a world famous car town from two aspects. Now Chang’an Ford has laid a solid foundation for the realization of this target.

Alan Mulally said that the new transmission plant will produce the most advanced 6-shift automatic transmissions and that both the transmission plant and the engine plant, the construction of which started not long before are for the future development of Chang’an Ford. According to Mr. Mulally, Plant 2 of Chang’an Ford will be put into production in the 1st quarter of 2012 and the new Ford Focus is now in the stage of mold testing.

Earlier, the construction of the second assembly plant in Chongqing with investment of 490 million USD and the engine plant with investment of 500 million USD from Chang’an Ford Mazda started. When all of these new plants are built, Chongqing will become the largest production base of Ford except Detroit and provide strong support for the rapid expansion of Ford in China, the world largest automobile market.
