OREANDA-NEWS. October 3, 2011. Today, CUMMINS KAMA Russian-American Joint Venture celebrates its fifth anniversary.

In 2006, OJSC KAMAZ, Russia`s largest producer of heavy trucks and Cummins Inc. (USA), the world’s recognized leader in the design and manufacture of diesel engines and diesel-generator installations, signed the founding documents of their joint venture ZAO CUMMINS KAMA for the production of Euro 3, Euro 4 and Euro 5 engines with a capacity of 140-300 hp for the Russian market. The authorized capital of the company made USD 20 million. KAMAZ acquired new technologies and occupied a new niche in the Russian market of engines, and the Americans gained access to the largest branded dealer and service network in Russia and the CIS.

To date, CUMMINS KAMA produces engines of series B of the American manufacturer for the Russian market. These are electronically controlled engines complying with Euro 3 environmental standards. In the process of cooperation development, the joint venture plans to assemble Euro 4 and Euro 5 engines (when these technical regulations are implemented in Russia). Also OJSC KAMAZ and Cummins Inc. signed a memorandum on the project for the production of Cummins licensed in-line diesel engines with a cubic capacity of 4.5 and 6.7 liters satisfying the requirements of Euro 6 international standards. The use of engines in KAMAZ vehicles enabled to increase the competitiveness of KAMAZ trucks on the domestic and export markets due to a doubled engine life.

This project is an example of effective international cooperation in the sphere of high technology and integration of the Russian company into the world automobile industry.
