OREANDA-NEWS. October 05, 2011. Tallinn University of Technology is opening its representative office in Silicon Valley. The office will be located next to the world’s greatest IT-companies, such as Microsoft, Google, Yahoo, IBM, Intel, etc., reported the press-centre of TUT.

“In order to enhance the quality of research and education at our university, it is important to be in a place where the newest scientific ideas, technologies and applications are created. Currently, the world’s IT capital is Silicon Valley. An international university like Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) cannot expect to become international only in Tallinn. We must make ourselves available at our partner universities and companies where the world’s top entrepreneurs develop their technologies and finance them in cooperation with venture capitalists,” said Alar Kolk, Vice Rector of Innovation and Internationalisation at TUT.

TUT actively cooperates with the University of California - Berkeley, one of the leading universities in the world by laying great emphasis on joint research and student exchange. In the future, the university is planning to strengthen cooperation with the University of Stanford to improve curricula and scientific research. Professors from both universities will be lecturing at TUT and guiding its students next spring.

TUT is displaying its information stand in the universities of New Mexico, Stanford and Berkeley, introducing the scientific research and study opportunities in TUT. TUT currently has 800 international students who are enrolled in 15 different curricula taught in English.

The US representative office of TUT is located in Silicon Valley at 440 N.Wolfe Rd. Sunnyvale, California 94085. Google started its successful journey in the very same house. The office of TUT is also opened to be exploited for the nearly 200 companies on the campus of TUT who engage in daily cooperation with the university.
