OREANDA-NEWS. October 05, 2011. Scheduled work on preparation for start-up is carried out on polypropylene plant (object of petrochemical cluster of project PARK, the head of the project is deputy of State Duma Mikhail Sutyaginsky). Scheme of phased start-up of the plant is approved which conforms to technological cycles of production, reported the press-centre of Titan.

During the first stage the storage for liquefied hydrocarbon gas of the plant will receive feedstock - propylene of polymerization purity - from loading rack. Initially the propylene will be purchased, and after the commissioning of PPF unit* will be processed propylene of proprietary production.

According to technological process propylene from liquefied hydrocarbon gas storage is transported through pipeline to polymerization unit with subsequent supply to polymerization reactors. The reactors are filled with monomer. Prepared catalytic complex from three components which are necessary for support of polymerization process is delivered to reactors. And after that starts polymerization reaction. Consequently produced powder is separated from the monomer, and then it is steamed off and dried.

The dried powder is supplied to intermediate storage tanks (extrusion workshop), and from there - to extrusion compartment where polypropylene granulation occurs with insertion of additives and stabilizers which will give service properties to the product (running-in of extrusion equipment is planned for early October). Polypropylene granules produced during this stage are removed from the extrusion workshop, dried and supplied to homogenizers where they achieve homogeneity and, actually, are turned into marketable batch.

The next stage is laboratory analysis of product samples for conformity with specific grade of polypropylene (the plant has proprietary laboratory building).

After this polypropylene goes to prepacking and palleting lines. The prepacked polypropylene is stowed in the warehouse and from there it is shipped to the buyers (running-in of prepacking line will be carried out in October). A group of prospective consumers is waiting for production of the plant. From the arrival of feedstock to polymerization unit to the first batch output will pass 16-18 hours.

*PPF processing unit is one of the key constituents of the constructed plant. The unit will supply the plant with feedstock propylene of high degree of polymerization frequency and concentration. Its capacity is 250 thousand tonnes of propane-propylene fraction per year. The unit includes two reactors, heat-exchange and tank equipment, three columns two of which are almost 100 meters high. The supplier of primary technological equipment of the PPF unit is public company “Tambovsky Zavod “Komsomolets”, and its cost is more than 100 million Roubles.
