OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2011. Belarus has seen the consumer price index grow 10.5% over the first 20 days of September to total 69.7% since early this year, the National Statistics Committee told reporters.

Pork prices have seen the largest increase since early this month (31%), followed by prefabricated beef (24%), sugar (20%), poultry (18%), salted herring (15%), boiled sausages (13%), vegetable oil, butter and beer (10%), live fish, prime-rate beef, milk and dairy products, bread and bakery goods, soft beverages (6-9%), confectionery goods, tea, mayonnaise, (4.6-5.5%), tobacco goods (35%), medications (17%), wallpaper (15%), electric appliances (11%), footwear (10%), furniture, clothing, perfumery and cosmetics, detergents (5.9-8.1%), higher education tuition fees (15%), city transport services (6.3%), medical services (3.9%).

Belarus’ inflation grew 9.9% in 2010 (10.1% in 2009). The forecast for 2011 stands at 7.5%-8.5%.
