OREANDA-NEWS. October 5, 2011. EBX Group miner invests BRD  475 million in rotating crushers and ball mills for the new processing plant which will have 24 Mtpy capacity

MMX, Eike Batista’s EBX Group mining company, informed the market today (19/9) that it has begun the purchase process for vital equipment for its new processing plant at the Serra Azul Unit, in Minas Gerais, which will be able to process 24 million tons per year (Mtpy) of iron ore. This purchase, valued at BRD 475 million, includes rotating crushers, SAG mills and vertical mills. Delivery time for this equipment is up to 18 months.

Among the suppliers are some of the largest producers of mining equipment in the world, such as CITIC, FLSmith, ABB and Metso.The total investment for the expansion of Serra Azul is BRD  4 billion, net of taxes. MMX has obtained the preliminary license for the expansion of the Serra Azul Unit, which includes the processing plant, conveyor belt and railroad terminal, at the end of August.

Roger Downey, CEO of MMX, emphasizes that “the large number of mining projects has increased the demand for equipment worldwide. By securing purchase of equipment that is critical for our operations and that has the longest delivery times, with recognized suppliers in terms of product quality and implementation capacity, MMX is guaranteeing its schedule for the expansion of Serra Azul ".
