OREANDA-NEWS. October 10, 2011. State Agency for Renewable & Alternative Energy Sources under the Ministry of Industry & Energy of Azerbaijan has groped a general path of development of alternative energy in the country.

Agency’s deputy director Jamil Melikov has stated that our task today is to develop as many independent and alternative energy-saving systems for homes, cottages, and small businesses as possible.

"It can be collectors for hot water production, biogas plants, photovoltaic modules, and geothermal sources. We are preparing a concept of alternative energy development in four or five directions, which will be reflected in the business plan and vision for the Agency. Negotiations have been launched with the ministries in order to find energy resources and ways to improve energy efficiency and energy recovery," Melikov said.

Agency’s nearest plan is designed to the period until 2015.

"As we prepare the infrastructure, legislative and rate base, the assessment of investment recoupment will become increasingly possible. As a result, alternative energy will become an interesting object for investments, and both local businessmen, international development banks and investors will be involved in its development," Melikov said.
