OREANDA-NEWS. October 11, 2011. For a brief moment the waiting area of Vilnius International Airport celebrating its anniversary on the last day of September turned into a dancing hall. Passengers were surprised by a dance show performed by Lietuvos rytas dancers dressed in flight attendants’ uniforms, reported the press-centre of VIA.

Passenger and baggage check-in was stopped for ten minutes as passengers tried to record the unexpected show on their cameras and phones. The reason behind musical interruption of the usual workflow at the airport was revealed upon the entrance of jazz singer Vilma Navickaite who performed a song “Happy Birthday... Vilnius International Airport!” in English.

It is not the first time Vilnius International Airport surprises its passengers. This year on St. Valentine’s Day the passengers were showered with heart-shaped confetti, the 8th of March was marked by presenting flowers to women, and the Independence Day was commemorated by meeting the passengers with the song “Laisve” (“Freedom”) performed by Vilnius Choir lead by singer Stano.

Vilnius International Airport launched its activity on 30 September 1991 as an independent state enterprise. Currently the company employs 332 people.
