OREANDA-NEWS. October 12, 2011. Cargo traffic at the terminals of JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) in January-September 2011 dropped 6.7 percent compared to the same period of 2010, to 4,328,300 tons, the stevedore company said.

In the reporting period, the volume of outbound cargo dropped 8.7 percent to 1,935.900 tons. The stevedore handled 696.900 tons of timber cargo, including 129,500 tons of lumber and particleboard, 88.300 tons of aluminum and 1,124,300 tons of coal.

The nine-month volume of inbound cargo increased by 11.4 percent to 1,089,600 tons, including 935,900 tons of alumina and 100,000 tons of petroleum coke.

In Jan-Sept, the volume of coastal traffic amounted to 215.700 tons, of which 122.300 tons of coal.
The Vanino-Kholmsk ferry line carried 1,087,100 tons of cargo, 5.0% below last year’s figure.

The port handled 921 vessels, including 502 ferries and 41,900 rail cars.

Por Vanino container throughput rose to 5.400 TEUs.

JSC Vanino Commercial Sea Port (Port Vanino) is the major operator of the port of Vanino (Khabarovsk Territory). The port is a gateway for trade flows between Russia and Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of Asia Pacific Region. Vanino also handles imports shipped to the northern regions of Russia. The port operates the waterfront of about 2.5-km with three specialized cargo handling facilities. In 2010 throughput of Port Vanino rose to about 6 million tons (+0.2% yoy). Russian Government holds through Federal Agency for Property Management a 73,33-percent stake in Port of Vanino JSC.
