OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2011. Reference is made to the announcement of China Coal Energy Company Limited (the “Company”) in respect of suspension of production of five underground mines in Shanxi Province owned by the Company, reported the press-centre of China Coal Energy Company.

As required by Shanxi Provincial Government, the production of five underground mines in Shanxi Province owned by the Company has been suspended for rectification on 19 September 2011. The production of such mines can only be resumed once passing the safety inspection by the relevant local authorities of Shanxi Province.

Both Anjialing No. 1 underground mine and Anjialing No. 2 underground mine in Ping Shuo area in Shanxi Province owned by the Company have passed safety inspection by the relevant local authorities of Shanxi Province and resumed their normal production respectively. The other three underground mines in Shanxi Province owned by the Company are currently commencing their safety inspection actively and endeavoring to obtain the approval for resumption of normal production after safety inspection by the relevant local government.

The Company is of the view that such short-term suspension of production for rectification would not have material impact on the production or operation of the Company. The Company will also announce further updates accordingly.
