OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2011. The exhibition of Turkmenistan’s economic achievements and the international scientific conference on the State Regulation of Turkmenistan’s Social and Economic Development: Priority Trends and Development Prospects were held in the Turkmen capital to mark the 20th anniversary of independence. The forum agenda focused on the aspects of the economic policy of the Turkmen state. On the instructions of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov the Ministry of Economy and Development, the Ministry of Finance, the Institute of Strategic Planning and Economic Development and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan organized the forum which is held each year on the eve of the main national holiday.

The exhibition arranged at the Exhibition Palace in Ashgabat vividly illustrated Turkmenistan’s outstanding achievements in the epoch of new Revival and great reforms and showcased its multifaceted potential and sustainable development of all sectors of the national economy. Over 140 state and private enterprises participated in the economic forum.

A festive atmosphere reigned in the spacious halls of the Exhibition Centre, music sounded everywhere and young girls dressed in national costumes offered Turkmen dainties to visitors.

The festive opening ceremony brought together the cabinet ministers, deputies of the Parliament, the heads of ministries and departments, diplomatic missions and representation offices accredited to our country and journalists.

In his welcoming statement to exhibition participants and organizers President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underlined the significance of the anniversary exhibition of Turkmenistan’s economic achievements which is to present outstanding accomplishments and victories our country had gained different spheres to the international community. “The exhibition will provide enterprises and organisations which offer their products and services and private producers with vast opportunities to exchange views and discuss issues of mutually beneficial cooperation," said the Turkmen leader.

Numerous expositions arranged in the Exhibition Palace illustrated the process for modernization and reorganization of the national economy taking place on an unprecedented scale in our country. Dozens of specialized pavilions presented the achievements of all sectors of Turkmen economy including the oil and gas – the basic sector of the national economy. Therefore, the subdivisions of the fuel and energy sector had a special place in the exposition.

The large-scale exposition of the oil and gas departments included the models of state-of-the-art units used to extract and process hydrocarbon fuel in the richest fields in different regions of the country and the projects aimed at strengthening the capacity of production facilities.

The expositions of the organisations affiliated to the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Turkmenenergo State Corporation, the Turkmenenergogurlusyk State Concern and the Turkmenmashingurlusyk State Concern and the others testified to the effective development of the fuel and energy sector as consistent with the National Programme for Social and Economic Development of Turkmenistan for 2011-2030.

The stands of the Turkmenhimiya State Concern presenting advanced technologies which are widely adopted in the chemical industry nowadays was of keen interest to the visitors.

The content and business agenda of the exhibition vividly demonstrated the pace of development and the efficiency of the implementation of international and national investment projects in all sectors of Turkmen economy represented by nearly all sectoral ministries and departments, state concerns and associations, banks, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and leading enterprises.

The pavilion of the Ministry of Textile Industry displayed a wide range of goods labelled ‘Made in Turkmenistan’ such as cotton and silk fibre, yarn, fabrics, garments, souvenirs and samples of Turkmen dresses and national embroideries. The exposition of traditional and modern carpet articles produced by the Turkmenhaly State Joint Stock Association and private producers and craftspeople aroused particular interest.

New products as well as those which are in high demand on the domestic market were presented in the expositions at the Exhibition Centre. Many exhibition participants, including state-run and private food enterprises, offered the visitors to taste their products such as delicious bakery products, fruit drinks, juices, cooked meats, etc. Everyone can taste tea made from local medicinal herbs in the pavilion of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry.

The Ashgabat Khyakimlik presented one of the ‘greenest’ pavilions at the exhibition. Bright autumn colours of city flowerbeds and lawns served as the picturesque frame for urban architectural landscapes. The most extraordinary expositions were presented by the Turkmenhowayollary State National Service and the Ministry of Railway Transport. The pavilion of the Turkmenhowayollary Service was designed as an aircraft cabin.

The pavilion of the agro-industrial sector had a special place in the exposition. It presented the production of the Food Industry Association, the Turkmenmallary Association, the Turkmengallaonumlery Association, the Turkmen Atlary State Association, the Turkmenpagta State Concern, the State Fishing Industry Committee and other agro-industrial organisations.

The pavilion of the State Committee for Tourism and Sports arouse keen interest. The exposition dedicated to the Avaza national tourism zone attracted attention of numerous visitors who could have a clear view of the rapid development of the new world’s tourism where a number of five-star hotels, recreation centres, artificial navigable waterway and other attractions had been built.

It should be noted that Turkmen entrepreneurs and commodity producers operating in various spheres ranging from the agriculture and food industries to construction of apartment houses and industrial facilities presented their potential at the exhibition. Entrepreneurs and industrialists in Turkmenistan increase in number with every passing year due to the target-oriented measures taken in our country to support and encourage the private sector of Turkmen economy.

The pavilion of the Turkmen State Publishing Centre which represents representing the printing and publishing industries in our country was also very popular. An important role in this sphere is given to the publication of works by prominent classical authors, children’s literature and books in translation. The books by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov which have gained popularity in our country and abroad due to the translation in different languages had a special place in the exposition. The exhibits included colourfully illustrated periodicals, journalistic, popular scientific books about Turkmenistan, its ancient history and cultural traditions and the present day.

The exposition of the Galkynysh Ylhamy subdivision of the Printing Centre presented new books, textbooks, periodicals and editions on CDs and DVDs. It should be noted that audio books of the works of national classical literature and Turkmen poets and writers became very popular with youth.

The exposition reflected the progress of the education reform. Textbooks on core and supplementary disciplines for schoolchildren and students of different ages are published in the country. State-of-the-art laboratory equipment for higher educational institutions and the prizes Turkmen students had won in the prestige intellectual games and sports competitions were presented in the pavilion of the Ministry of Education.

The Academy of Sciences demonstrated its achievements and potential and developments of Turkmen scientists attracting attention of wide circles of people to scientific and technological advances of the national school of science.

A great number of participants and a wide public response drawn by the forum demonstrated once again that the exhibition of Turkmenistan’s achievements is an event of national significance, an effective platform for promoting domestically produced commodities in the consumer market and showcasing the achievements of Turkmenistan as a dynamically developing and politically stable state with the strong spiritual and social foundations and continuingly improved people’s welfare in the epoch of new Revival and great reforms.
