OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2011. Jim Gillett, Gaffney, Cline & Associates business development manager gave a press conference in the conference hall of the State News Agency of Turkmenistan. The meeting was dedicated to the results of the current stage of the independent audit of Turkmenistan’s largest gas deposits, including Southern Yoloten-Osman, Minara and Yashlar. Together with Turkmen journalists and reporters of foreign news agencies the meeting brought together the representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to our country and the Turkmen ministries and departments concerned.

During the press conference Mr. Jim Gillett made a presentation to sum up the work done to estimate preliminary geological reserves of the aforementioned deposits.

The results of the current stage of the independent audit showed that gas reserves in the Southern Yoloten-Osman, Minara and Yashlar gas fields proved to be 26.2 trillion cubic meters of natural gas. The new reserve estimate ranks this natural ‘storage’ as the world’s second largest gas field.

The British auditor Gaffney, Cline & Associates noted that the current estimates may well increase still further as additional data are acquired after the northern-western, southern-eastern and western boundaries of Turkmenistan’s Sothern Yoloten-Osman field are defined. Thus, it is mostly probable that further exploration work in these and other fields throughout the country will exceed the current gas reserves estimates guaranteeing that Turkmenistan is able to supply any amounts of ‘blue fuel’ to existing and future gas pipelines .

During the press-conference Mr. Jim Gillett answered the journalists’ questions and presented the science and technically based data of the independent audit report.
