OREANDA-NEWS. October 13, 2011. Expocentre hosted another session of the Organizing Committee on preparing and running the Third International Forum on Intellectual Property Expopriority’2011.

Opening the Organizing Committee session, General Director of Expocentre Vladislav L. Malkevich summed up results of the performed work and the Expopriority project development. The main result, as Vladislav L. Malkevich emphasized, was creation of a model asserting the exhibition as a model for accelerated introduction of inventions.

Serious improvement was achieved in relation to the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry- UFI- attitude towards the Forum topic. There was a constructive dialogue with the UFI Chief Executive Paul Woodward, and now the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry will participate in the International Forum Expopriority.

The Forum enjoys official support from the International Chamber of Commerce. This year the ICC delegation will for the first time take part in the Forum. On the delegation there will be representatives of the ICC Project on the Business Action to Stop Counterfeiting and Piracy (BASCAP) and of the International Court of Arbitration as well. In this connection the corresponding topics are added to the Forum program.

Among the organizations supporting the Forum there are the International Federation of Inventors' Associations, its representatives will jury at the Innovative Contest. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) will traditionally support the Forum. The WIPO delegation will as well participate in Expopriority’2011, including its international experts. The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation officially supported the Expopriority’2011 Forum. Now the Forum is included into the corresponding federal target program.

The Organizing committee structure has extended. Among new members of the Organizing Committee there are the Fund for Development of the Center for Elaboration and Commercialization of New Technologies Skolkovo, National Business Angels Association (NBAA), Association Russian House for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation, Noncommercial Organization Fund of Support and Development of Education, Creativity, Culture.

This year the exhibition of innovations enjoys participation of exponents from 10 countries that means the exhibition has become actually international and more representative.

The Youth Program of the Forum held in the Assembly of the Innovative Community of Young Generation format enjoys particular interest of all international organizations. Organizers expect that in the Spotlight on Creative Youth at Expocentre (December 8) there will participate not only representatives from Russia, but also from other countries.

The Organizing Committee first session  highlighted necessity of consolidating intellectual potential and uniting efforts of exhibition operators for creating a uniform exhibition platform and running innovative shows in one place and at one time. This idea is getting implemented in the form of the Innovative Russia’2012 show which will take place at Expocentre in April 2012. The project includes not only Expocentre own exhibitions, but guest exhibitions as well. This autumn the consolidation passes under Expopriority umbrella brand which replaced Salon of Innovations and Investments in the innovative field.

At present the Forum’s strategic objective is creating a financial relation of innovations and investments, making supply meet demand and developing the market of innovations.

Galina P. Kalinina, the project director, spoke about the Third International Forum on Intellectual Property Expopriority’2011 runup progress, including the results of negotiations in the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and with the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) management in Paris. She noticed that in the previous year there were considerable improvements of understanding the Forum development ways. The proposition to apply temporary protection of intellectual property only at EXPO world shows has been taken off from the agenda. That opens great prospects. The question on UFI exhibition events status and such events recognition as officially recognized international exhibitions for the purpose of article 11 of the Parisian convention on protection of the industrial property is being widely discussed at present. There are preconditions for creating a tool of mutual recognition of such exhibitions national lists within the CIS countries.

Galina P. Kalinina as well noticed that the Forum program was supported by the ICC and answered the most actual purposes, including struggling against counterfeiting and piracy. The theme of creative youth was followed up, thus for youngsters there is going to be held a master-class on the intellectual property protection with participation of international class experts. Protection of industrial designs is another key theme of the Forum.

The exhibition director Alexey A. Kormnov reported on the course of formation of the International Exhibition of Innovations within the Forum Expopriority’2011. This year’s exhibition considerably exceeds the previous year’s edition in the terms of figures. The exposition of Pavilion No. 7 will display the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, All-Russia Society of Inventors and Rationalizers, stands of Astrakhanskaya, Novosibirskaya, Kurskaya regions, RF CCI and Expocentre joint stand, etc. Within the exposition there are thematic salons.

The Organizing Committee members discussed offers on working out a program of the IP Congress within the Forum. Questions on preparing the Innovative Contest’2011, Spotlight on Creative Youth and Assembly of the Innovative Community of Young Generation within the Forum Expopriority’2011, running the Forum advertizing campaign, new services for participants of the Congress program, exhibitors and visitors in the Internet and other questions were read out.
